Discovery Session

THE best first step for anyone who dreams of flying! Our highly popular and rewarding half-day scooter towing lesson will inspire you that YOU can learn to hang glide.

You can come out with no knowledge of hang gliding and we will get your feet off the ground. We give you brief but thorough instruction about what hang gliding is all about, review of the aircraft and other gear and how the instruction works. We use a 'scooter tow winch' which is the industry standard method of instruction to introduce people to getting in the air.

These sessions are all done first thing in the morning (yes...at dawn) or just before sunset as the winds die off. We want as little wind as possible so the wind has no effect on your flying.

You'll never get higher than you are willing to jump from on your first day (we control your height with the scooter winch) and you use a certified glider that is designed for this sort of first-day instruction. This session consists of a quick theory instructional session on our tri-pod simulator and then 2 or 3 low-and-slow flights on our Condor trainer glider. The number of flights depends on the weather conditions.

If, after your Discovery Session, you know you want to pursue complete certification, this Discovery Session can be fully credited to the combined Beginner + Full-Certification courses if you start your certification course within two-weeks of completing this Discovery Session.
