Soaring Session today

Sorry for not having a session tonight....I didn't think the winds would be as light as they were.

We went out to do some soaring at our flying club's flying site. It was only the second day of soaring there this year due to the excessive wind and rain we've been having but the soaring forecast looked amazing so Ryan and I (and a few other from the club) braved the freezing cold to get our first taste of local soaring for the year.

Bob Grant came from London and Rick Hines joined Ryan and I for as much soaring as our frozen fingers could take. We all hit cloudbase which was over 6000' asl and climb rates were reported at over 600fpm (I only had an audio-only vario on). Bob clocked almost three hours but the rest of us got our fill after about two hours each and all chose to come down. We landed at about 4:30 and there was abundant lift all over the place....I am sure it was soarable til at least 6pm...probably longer.

Thanks to Steve our faithful tug pilot....he idled the tug back and soared it for a while since there was noone around to pull him into the sky.

Hopefully the weekend will bring more soaring conditions.
