Time to Ridge Soar
This is the time of year that we get the opportunity to go soar the small ridges on the Great Lakes (Erie and Huron). I've never soared the lakes so I'm looking forward to it. It's a catch-22...it's bitterly cold, but we need the cold to freeze the lakes for a landing zone.
My friend Jeff O'Brien just had this video posted of him soaring at The Point of the Mountain in Salt Lake City, Utah. It's a rather famous place for smooth soaring conditions. I was fortunate enough to zip down there twice (MANY moons ago) when I lived in Vancouver...it brings back many memories. I remember racking up countless hours on the ridge as I was just learning to paraglide at the time and would alternate between the paraglider and hang glider as the winds picked up and dropped off.
Enjoy
