About Us

 Instructors / Owners

Mark Dowsett: By week a mild-mannered mail carrier - by weekend a die-hard  hang glider pilot!  He's been flying hang gliders non-stop since 1993 and holds a couple of Canadian records. When he is not tearing up the skies or chillin' with his wife Donna and his son, Mark enjoys a good plate o' sushi.

Ryan Wood: Between helping run an amazing charity (Live Different), snugglin' his 2 little daughters, son, and testing his wife Michelle's apparently endless patience, Ryan sneaks in time to be an avid pilot. He started flying small planes 15 years ago, but switched to hang gliding shortly after and never looked back! Ryan also loves sushi... All-You-Can-Eat sushi that is... which might explain his need for an extra large glider :-)

Nick Jones - Nick is Instinct's first graduate back in 2010 and has grown as a hang glider pilot as much as he has helped Instinct grow into the success it is today.  An electronics engineer by day and outside of that....we try to keep him as busy as he wants to be with our many technical projects and "on the throne" of our big-winch as our lead winch operator.  He swiftly and naturally became our first new instructor thanks to his past (and current) recreation aviation licensing.  In 2015 & 2016, he had the longest cross-country flight in Ontario...of ANY pilot, regardless of experience!

SOGA

SOGA is the largest hang gliding club in Ontario and are focused on ensuring there is a place to continue to fly hang gliders in SW-Ontario. The club:

  • manages the airfield we aero-tow from
  • provides its members with the Dragonfly Ultralight that tows us up
  • liaises with Transport Canada on airspace issues
  • liaises with our national association (HPAC)

They support our instructional ventures so we hope you continue to support their efforts once you become a certified pilot.
